This morning as part of our Go Red For Cork our 4th, 5th & 6th classes took part in a zoom call with Niall Cahalane. Niall Cahalane made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he was selected for the Cork minor team. He had one championship season with the minor team, culminating with the winning of an All-Ireland medal in 1981. Cahalane subsequently joined the Cork under-21 team and captained the team to the All-Ireland title in 1984. By this stage he had also joined the Cork senior team, making his debut during the 1983-84 league. Over the course of the next fourteen seasons, Cahalane won two All-Ireland medals as part of back-to-back triumphs in 1989 and 1990. This morning Niall spoke to children from 4th – 6th classes and answered questions about Cork’s 1990 football win and winning the double in 1990.
